ANGELOKTISTI CHURCH, Larnaca, Cyprus
Angeloktisti means "Built by the Angels". This 11th century Byzantine church was erected over the ruins of an Earlier Christian basilica. The original aspe has survived, together with one of the finest pieces of Byzantine art to be seen in this area, a rare 6th century mosaic of the Virgin Mary and Child between the two archangels, which allegedly rivals even the Ravenna Mosaics.
LOCATION:Kiti village, 10 km west of Larnaca airport.
