Diving at Zenobia Wreck, Larnaca, Cyprus

Scuba divers should absolutely go for a dive at Zenobia, a passenger ferry which sank in 1980 and is now rated as one of the world’s top ten wrecks. Zenobia is now lying on its side at a depth of 16 to 42 meters, I mile off Larnaca's fishing harbor.

Since sinking the Zenobia has been relatively untouched with no salvage work being allowed. The rights to dive the Zenobia have been acquired by a local company, the protection of the Zenobia keeps it a brilliant dive site.

There are many rumours surrounding the exact cause of the sinking of the Zenobia none of which have ever been proved and it seems never will be. According to local legend the insurance money for the Zenobia was never collected by its owners and no formal investigation into the sinking has ever been published.
